Mike Anderson, MSW, LICSW

Mike Anderson is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.  He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.

Mike has been employed at the Northwestern Mental Health Center since 1996.  He provides psychotherapy services at the Center’s Crookston and Fosston sites.  Mike enjoys working with teens, families, adults and couples.  He also facilitates the Domestic Abuse Treatment Program for men who have been abusive to their partners.  Mike has advanced training in the areas of serious and persistent mental illness, men’s issues, depression, relationship issues and domestic violence.

Mike is married to Brenda, who also works at the Northwestern Mental Health Center.   They live in Crookston with their two children.  Mike enjoys reading, photography, music, traveling, and sports.

                                                                        

Jodi Boerger Wilder, Psy.D., LP

Dr. Jodi Boerger is a clinical child psychologist with specialized training in play therapy, early childhood mental health and neuropsychological testing.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the Institute of Child Development, within the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus, and a Master’s and Doctorate Degree in Clinical Child Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno, California.  Jodi completed an APA-accredited internship at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis where she completed the Child Psychiatric and Pediatric In-Patient Rotations.  Currently she sees children aged 2 to 17 years of age in the Crookston office and is the Early Childhood Specialist on a grant to develop an early childhood mental health system of care within a five county region in northwestern Minnesota.  Jodi’s goal in working with children is to assess each child’s unique strengths and weaknesses, and to help the child’s support system focus on those strengths to help the child succeed across all settings.

Lauren Chilian

Lauren Chilian is a clinical psychology practicum student from the University of North Dakota.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Honors from the University of North Dakota in 2008.  Lauren received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota in 2010 and is currently working toward her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.  Lauren has been working with adults at the Crookston office since the summer of 2011.

Don Christie, M.Ed., M.A., LICSW

Don Christie is the Clinical Director of the Outpatient Program at the Northwestern Mental Health Center.  He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Mental Health Counseling from North Dakota State University, and a Master of Education Degree in Educational Psychology from California State University in Northridge.  He has worked as a psychotherapist for 24 years and his current practice focuses primarily on adult mental health issues including relationship counseling.  Don has special interest in the joining of spiritual, philosophical and phase of life problems with more traditional mental health issues.  He also has extensive experience in chemical dependency and domestic abuse issues.

Don lives in Crookston, and has worked at the Mental Health Center for 14 years.  He has two adult daughters and five grandchildren.  He enjoys listening to and playing music (piano and guitar), reading, writing, motorcycling, canoeing, and exploring spiritual issues.

Lindsay Deling, B.A.

Lindsay Deling is a psychology practicum student from the University of North Dakota’s Clinical Psychology program.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Social Sciences from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.  She received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Dakota.  She is currently working toward her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.  Lindsay has been working at Northwestern Mental Health Center since the summer of 2010.  Lindsay sees children and adolescents at the Crookston office.

Janet Denison, MSW, LICSW

Janet Denison is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She obtained a B.S.W. from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a M.S.W from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.

Janet has worked in the human services field for over 20 years and has worked at the Northwestern Mental Health Center, Inc. since 2008. She enjoys working with teens, adults, couples and families on a variety of mental health issues and concerns. Janet has advanced expertise in chemical health. She has special interest in the role of Spirituality in the healing process and works primarily within a strength-based perspective.  Janet has clinic hours in Crookston and Mahnomen.    She is married and has an adult son and an adolescent daughter.  In her spare time, Janet enjoys reading, walking, traveling biking, and being involved in her families’ and community activities.


Elizabeth Evenson, Psy.D., LP

Dr. Elizabeth Evenson is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned her doctoral degree at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and went on to complete her internship at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. Previously, Elizabeth obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota, and her Master’s of Education with a major in Community Counseling from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Elizabeth has worked in both in-patient and out-patient settings providing individual, family, and couple’s counseling. She was a tenured professor for 8 years teaching classes in Emotional Intelligence, First Year Experience, and Stress Management. She has also been adjunct faculty teaching courses such as General Psychology and Group Dynamics. Elizabeth enjoys speaking on various topics and has provided trainings and consultations on various mental health issues.

Elizabeth has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She enjoys working with adults (individual and couple’s) as well as families on a variety of mental health issues and concerns. She specializes in those with dual disorders of substance abuse or chemical dependency and mental health. Elizabeth has clinic hours in Crookston and Hallock. She also works as a Juvenile Justice Mental Health Professional in the northwest region.

Chris Green, MSW, LICSW

Chris Green is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and has been employed with Northwestern Mental Health Center since 2007. He obtained both his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Social Work from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. Chris provides psychotherapy services at the Center’s Crookston site. He enjoys working with adolescence, families, adults and couples. Chris has special interest in trauma, grief and loss issues, and the role of spirituality in the healing process.

Michal Jorgens, Psy.D., LP

Dr. Michal Jorgens is a licensed clinical psychologist.  She works with a wide range of individuals, and specializes in working with the most severe disabilities.  She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Minnesota School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University in the Twin Cities, Minnesota.  Dr. Jorgens works part of the week in the outpatient clinic doing testing, psychological evaluation and individual therapy.  She is also the Director of residential services for the Mental Health Center’s programs at Northwestern Apartments in Crookston.  Dr. Jorgens has an extensive background in developmental disabilities, having provided administration and consultation to such programs for over 15 years.  She was appointed to and served on the Governor’s Planning Council for Developmental Disabilities.  Michal’s APA internship training included forensic evaluation, inpatient psychiatric treatment and assessment, and assessment and treatment of developmentally disabled adults.  Dr. Jorgens has served as an adjunct faculty at University of Minnesota, Crookston, since 1995.

Shannon Kronlund, MSW, LICSW

Shannon Kronlund is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker. She obtained both her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Social Work from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.Shannon has been employed at the Northwestern Mental Health Center, Inc. since 2002 and completed her Masters internship here as well. Shannon enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults. She also greatly enjoys working with families and was previously a part of the Children and Family Services division of the Northwestern Mental Health Center, Inc. as a Professional In-Home Family Therapist.Shannon has specialized training in play-therapy and Functional Family Therapy. She has office hours in both Crookston and East Grand Forks.

Thea Rothmann, Ph.D., LP

Dr. Thea Rothmann, licensed clinical psychologist, is an outpatient clinician and Director of Crisis Services for Northwestern Mental Health Center in Crookston, MN.  She is trained as a cognitive-behavioral therapist and relies on treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. In addition to office hours at our main site in Crookston, MN, she is co-located with primary care at Riverview Hospital in Crookston and at Essentia Health Hospital in Ada, MN. She conducts psychological assessments and general intellectual, neuropsychological, presurgical, and court-related assessments. Dr. Rothmann sees older adolescents and all ages of adults with a wide-range of mental health issues. Dr. Rothmann earned her doctoral and master’s degrees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Her graduate training focused on treatment of severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and her research targeted psycholegal applications in SPMI, including guardianship, involuntary treatment, competency, and commitment.  During her predoctoral internship at the VA in Augusta, Maine, she received specialized training in neuropsychological assessment, rural outpatient practice, and treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder.  Previously, Thea obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Spanish, and English Writing in 2001 from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.

James Schober, M.A., LP

Jim Schober is a Licensed Psychologist (Master’s Level) and has worked at the Northwestern Mental Health Center since 1993.  Before his employment at NWMHC, Jim was employed as a Psychologist in Grand Forks for five years.  Jim is originally from the Twin Cities but now calls the Red River Valley his “home”.  Jim’s primary interest and competency is with children and adolescents.  Also, he works with adults.  Jim has a special interest in evaluating/assessing clients with possible ADHD or ADD.  Other interest and competency areas includes therapy with clients who present with – trauma (abuse), depression, Aspergers syndrome, anxiety, anger, adjustment to divorce and grief/loss.  Also, Jim administers Psychological Evaluations – child, teen, and adult which includes personality, cognitive/IQ and adaptive behavior functioning.  Jim is an avid Viking fan, follows Sioux sports, and enjoys time with his family. Additionally, he loves the outdoors which includes fishing, biking, hiking, and gardening.

Dan Wilson, MSW, LICSW

Dan Wilson has served as the Executive Director for the Northwestern Mental Health Center since August of 1986.  Prior to that time, he was the Executive Director of the Polk County Developmental Achievement Center from 1981 to 1986, during which time he also taught two semesters of Social Work Administration at the University of North Dakota.  He served as the Assistant Director for the Northwestern Mental Health Center from 1973 to 1978 working  closely with Developmental Achievement Centers as well as with the development of ICF/MR facilities in the region.  From 1978 to 1981 he served as the Assistant Director for Mental Health, focusing on the development of the Community Support Program and Northwestern Apartments.Mr. Wilson holds a Master's degree in Social Work from the Tulane University School of Social Work in New Orleans attending under a fellowship with the National Institute of Mental Health.  He received a Bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1967, during which time he also worked for Northeast Neighborhood Services, a youth and family services organization.  He served in the United States Peace Corps in Montevideo, Uruguay from 1969 to 1972 providing rehabilitation services at the Escuela Taller de Recuperacion Ocupacional.
