Northwestern Mental Health Center has long been a leader in providing internship opportunities to students wishing to develop their skills in a community mental health setting. We believe that including interns in our service delivery model benefits our clients and our team through the inclusion of fresh, new ideas coming from students who bring to the table their learning and experiences from their academic setting. We also believe that we are helping to shape the next generation of leaders in behavioral health care as we expose students to the
realities facing our clients in the communities we serve and as our veteran staff of professionals help foster a passion for team-based, community integrated, person-centered care.
NWMHC typically provides internships for students in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, addiction counseling and advanced practice psychiatric nursing. We offer career opportunities for students in PhD/PsyD programs (Clinical or Counseling) who have obtained their Master’s degree (see our careers page). We are not, at this time, an official internship site for Clinical or Counseling PhD/PsyD interns.
We are open to discussing internship possibilities from other disciplines.
