Veronica Harsh, MD is serving as the Medical Director for Northwestern Mental Health Center. Her primary focus will be on medical integration and clinical guideline development. Dr. Harsh is board certified in psychiatry, internal medicine and consultation-liaison/psychosomatic medicine.
Dr. Harsh earned her medical degree at West Virginia University in 2001. She completed residency training in psychiatry and internal medicine at the University of Virginia. She completed fellowship training in behavioral endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health.
In addition to her position at NWMHC, Dr. Harsh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia. She has worked to provide psychiatric and primary care for patients with serious mental illness in outpatient, inpatient, and state psychiatric hospital settings. She is interested in hormonal influences of mood disorders and treatments of reproductive related mood disorders such as PMDD, perimenopause, and peripartum disorders.
